The Board
The Board is a dark comic novel set in a New York City co-op building, where a group of volunteer board members gathers to make “small” decisions about leaks, repairs, budgets, and complaints. Each issue seems manageable. But there is one shareholder who refuses to let anything slide.
He attends every meeting. He asks the questions no one wants to answer. He tracks the money, the delays, the contradictions. The board hates him for it.
They call him difficult. Obsessive. Disruptive. They mock him after meetings. Until one morning, he’s found dead. As the board scrambles to make sense of what happened, something else begins to surface: Each of them had a reason to want him gone, and each of them has something to hide.
